How to Create an Energy Protection Ritual Before Work

Whether you’re heading into an office, logging on from home, or stepping into a space where you’re holding energy for others—how you begin your day matters.


As someone who works with energy daily, I’ve learned that protecting your energy is just as important as charging your phone before you leave the house. When we go out into the world without intention, our energy can get pulled in a thousand directions—leaving us tired, scattered, and even reactive.


Creating a simple energy protection ritual before work can help you feel clear, grounded, and in your own power. And no—you don’t have to be a Reiki practitioner to do this. You just need a few minutes, a quiet space, and the willingness to connect with your energy body.


Here’s how you can begin.


Step 1: Start With Presence


Before anything else, pause.


Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly. Close your eyes. Take three deep, conscious breaths. As you inhale, say inwardly:“I return to myself.”As you exhale, release any tension or worry.


Let this be your way of arriving into the now—into your body.


Step 2: Cleanse Your Energy Field


Use any method that works for you:

  • A few drops of essential oil like lavender or palo santo rubbed between your palms

  • A short visualization of light washing over your aura

  • A favorite affirmation like: “I release what is not mine to carry.”


If you’re trained in Reiki, this is a good time to activate the energy by placing your hands together in gassho and silently calling on Reiki. Allow it to flow through your body and aura, cleansing anything sticky or heavy.


Step 3: Call in Protection


Now, imagine a bubble of light surrounding you—choose the color that feels most protective to you (gold, white, deep blue). See it forming around your entire being: above you, below you, all around you.


Say (out loud or in your heart):

“Only energy that serves my highest good may enter this space.”“I am safe. I am supported. I am sovereign.”


If you’re drawn to spiritual guides, angels, or ancestors, you can call on them now to walk with you through the day.


Step 4: Set Your Intention


Ask yourself: What kind of energy do I want to bring into work today?


It could be:

✨ Calm focus

✨ Open-hearted presence

✨ Clear boundaries

✨ Joy in service

✨ Trust in my intuition


Hold that intention close. Let it anchor your energy throughout your day.


Optional Add-Ons:


  • Crystals: Slip a small black tourmaline, obsidian, or amethyst in your pocket or bag.

  • Sound: Ring a small bell or play a short sound bowl clip to clear your space.

  • Journal: Jot down one thing you’re grateful for and one thing you’re releasing.


Remember This


You don’t need an hour-long ritual to protect your energy. You just need presence, intention, and a few mindful breaths.


Over time, this becomes a habit. A way of reclaiming your energy, day by day.
